House Of Darkness

Are you afraid of the dark? This question is always said wrong. Instead, are you scared of what's in the dark?

In our game, a burglar enters an abandoned house in search for treasure but watch out! A spooky ghost lurks around this house and will capture anyone who dares to steal its treasure!

The ghost’s goal is to capture the burglar as fast as possible by landing on their current position to win the game. With the setup of the walls, each player experience ends up being different as the player is able to create the board for themselves. Both players draw cards from their randomly generated squares on the board to aid them in the house! Once the burglar finds the treasure card, he must escape the house to win!

The Game

Our game is for casual players! Players who are familiar with dice rolling will have no problem with our game. House Of Darkness is a PVP game, meaning each players take turns to roll dice and move.

Our Player Types:

Joker

The joker players would like to mess around with the board and would like to see the scenarios firsthand and have fun interacting and reading through the scenarios at hand

Competitor

The competitor partakes in the competitive side of the game and will try to outsmart the other player. They would take every advantage they can to win the game.

Craftsman

The craftsman would like to strategize around with their movements and would like to place walls to their advantage. With each card, they have to plan around what they get and use it to get a flawless victory.

Overall, players who like the concept of chase games and 1v1'ing will have fun playing House Of Darkness!

The Cards

Creating our rule sheet in the beginning was a bit of a challenge. Gustavo was the one with the vision our game House Of Darkness, but the key issue was how will we get this game to work? It took lots of brainstorming, but I came up with the idea of dice rolling for movement and cards for power ups. I created an 8x8 grid (The House) and added randomly generated cards pick-ups determined by dice rolling. In our first play test we had a fully functional game!

The Rules

For the final conclusion, moving forward I would make sure that we brainstorm a lot more ideas and add more interesting features to our game. Our game has so much potential to be better, and I know with more time to put in next time House Of Darkness can be an even better game!
